Perlite Concrete Floor Fill

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Durability, lightweight, ease of application and economy are the major considerations in choosing a non-structural floor fill ill. Fiber reinforced perlite concrete can be used to control sound attenuation through the floor system and to provide a smooth and level base for carpet, tile or resilient flooring.

SCOPE:
The perlite applicator (sub-contractor) shall furnish all labor, materials and equipment necessary for installation of the perlite Fiber Reinforced concrete floor fill.  For specific information regarding the physical properties of the perlite concrete or materials used, please reference the pages on the side menu bar.

FRAMING:
The floor Construction shall consist of galvanized metal deck or reinforced concrete or wood of required section and strength to carry the dead and live loads for the spans shown on the drawings. Over wood floor construction it is a good practice to provide a weakened plane joint at doors, stairs, etc. by means of a wood or metal divider strip.

FLOOR PREPARATION:
All flooring surfaces must be free of holes and debris prior to application. All projections through the floor (heater ducts, plumbing, electrical), should be in before concrete is placed. Wood floors must be covered with a moisture barrier such as polyethylene at least 4 mils thick or with approved Kraft paper stapled in. place and lapped to prevent leakage onto sub floors Fiber Reinforced Perlite Concrete Floor fill ill can be installed after drywall and taping are complete.

APPLICATION:
The Perlite concrete floor fill shall be installed by a properly trained applicator and shall be mixed and placed using equipment necessary to achieve specified density and compressive strength within the range as shown under Physical Properties (located on the side menu bar). A minimum thickness of one inch or greater as specified. For galvanized metal deck the minimum thickness is 1½" above the corrugations.

FINISHING:
The Perlite concrete floor fill shall be finished to a surface suitable for application of flooring material. The allowable tolerance shall not exceed ¼" jQT_01t Normally a steel trowel finish is necessary under resilient or sheet flooring.

CURING:
Avoid construction traffic for 48-72 hours. Floor fill should be in place approximately 7 days prior to application of flooring material. General contractor should place temporary wood planking over floor fill wherever it will be subjected to heavy wheeled or concentrated loads during curing process.

LIMITATIONS:
Perlite Insulating Concrete floor fill is not intended to be left exposed as a wearing surface.
