When mixing perlite concrete, air entrainment and progressive cavity pumps should be used. AIR ENTRAINMENT Perlite concretes require air entrainment of some type. Generally the intent is to create approximately 8-15% air in the final mix which can be achieved by a variety of products. It is important to remember that there are different forms of air entraining agent and different concentrations. As such, older literature (both our literature and brochures from The Perlite Institute) which recommended as much as six to seven pints of air entraining agents per yard should be disregarded! Some possible air entraining agents are:
Please note: These companies and products have been used by contractors and transit mix companies during the last few years. There are others being used, and probably any reputable form of air entrainment will work as long as the final result is in the 8-15% air range. By listing these products, we do not not necessarily endorse them or assume any liablity for them or for any mixes made with them. Perlite Concrete Pumping Equipment
